EXHIBITION MISHAP.
PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION. CnßisTcnußcn, March 9. A gale this morning completely demolished one f of the two towers of the exhibition flanking the main entrance. . The towers had reached u height of over one hundred feet, but were in skeleton form and consequently at the weakest <tage. Fortunately none of the men were employed on the construction of the towers to-day, owing to the high wind. The authorities stato the accident does not necessary indicate any structural weaknoss in the building. The Building Committee of the exhibition met and viewed the damage and i decided to take no steps until the [arrival of the architect, Mr J. C. Mad--1 dison, who is expected to leave Wellington for Christchurch to-night. One of the Commissioners states the mishap will not cause any delay in the ipcning of the exhibition. The amount of damage done is not nearly so much as when part of the main building was wrecked recently, as tho cost of one of the towers complete is only about LSOO or L6OO. '
