A LADY HELP'S DUTIES.
Ever increasing in their multiplicity are the duties of the lady-help. Recently a Duncdin paper contained a " wanted " advertisement, the advertiser requiring a lady-help. One of ' her replies, which seems lo point in a somewhat sarcastic fashion to the title and duties, ran as follows: " Duncdin, 12th January, 19U6. —In answer (o your advertisement iu ' Times' for a lady-help lo act as music mistress, seamstress, and general servant, 1 wish to make application for the position. I note the fact that you keep u kitchen maid. Now, if appointed, this I cannot allow, for 1 shall have lots of spare time on my hands, and shall be only too happy to do the work of the kitchen, besides the rest of the housework. If you keep a cow 1 am a good milker, and if a horse lam a gruuiu. Feeding pigs is to me a pleasure, anil gardening a delight. I can be depended upon for a little rough carpentering, and flatter myself that I am "no slouch" at house-painting and plumbing. Should you wish your daughters taught French, Italian, mathematics, and navigation, I am just the lady-help you require. Finally, I may add that I can do a little boot-repairing, and carry iny own kit of tools with me—the only item iu that connection that I should expect you to Dud is the wax for thread. You sec I could iill in my spare time cobbling. As to my religion, f baic none, lam a rryploconchoidsyphoiiostomi'ler, and therefore should not waste time attending church, but could Will pigs, etc., on the Sab-' bath.
