Wellington, February 28. It is understood that at the end of Mr Marchant's leave of absence, there will be a rc-arrangement of tho administration of the Lauds and Survey Department. The staff will be modelled on the lines followed in the Australian States, the Under-Secretary for Lauds being chief executive oflicer, and the Survcyor-General merely head of the technical branch. Mr W. C. Reusing, ton, tho present Under-Secretary, will probably remain in office, with extended powers,
