De Malet, said he much regretted the heavy doficiet of £29,403 for the past year's work, but the loss was entirely due to tho serious fall in mutton and lamb on the Home miutt't towards the end of the season. Gilbert Anderson, managing director of the Company, said the past year had been one of (he worst since the iuccplion of trade for all exporters of frozen meat, brought about by general slowness of trade at Home, by large quantities of cheap beef being placed on the Home market and by the high price of stock iu the colony. The position was aggravated by farmers insisting on sclliug lamb by the lb. and holding back stock until thoy could obtain a heavy average weight.
