Beef was yarded in usual numbers, and competition was good, up to last week's rates, oxen, selling to 22s per 1001b, cow 17s to 20s. Steers sold at from £5 10s to £lO 17s 6d; cows, £3 5s to £6 7s 6d. A draft of 21 steers from Mr F. W, Manning, Paparata, averaged £lO, Sheep: The Newmarket yards were well filled on Tuesday with sheep of all descriptiDiis, and sold well at l-.ile advanced rates. Fat wethers sold at from 15s Od to £1 3s Gd ; ewes, 13s (id to £1 Os (id. Lambs, in full supply, sold well at 8s (id to 10s 9d.
Pigs: Porkers brought from 17s 9d to 2Ss ; weaners, 7s Od to Ms; baconcrs, £1 17s to £3 2s. Hides.- Market advanced fully Id a lb all round. Fat lambs.-Tlieri! were 1228 fat lambs entered. There was better competition by butchers, and prices were firmer. 'There were 687 taken for freezing at 12s '.ld lo 15s oil, 'll6 bought by butchers at 12s to 15s 10d, one lot 19s 9d, and 25 passed in. Fat sheep.—Medium entry, ewes and wethers being about equal in number. Prices:—Prime wethers 18s Od to 21s 7d, lighter 15s to 18s, prime heavy ones 16s 6d to 18s 6d, medium lis to 16s, aged lis to 13s 6d. prime Merino wetliers 15s 8d te 17s 6d, lighter 10s 3d to 12s 3d. Fat cattle—The supply of beef totalled 173 head, including a few pens of good steers, the bulk oE the yarding being cows. Prime beef showed practically no change, but cows were very dull of sale. Steers made £6 17s oil to £lO ss, heifers £5 to £7 10s, cows £4 5s to £7 17s (id, equal to 20s to 23s for prime and 15s to 19s for cows and inferior per 1001b. Veal calves 7s lid to 16s, there being a moderate entry Store and dairy cattle.—A fair demand for young dairy cows, which sold at £6 to £6los, aud up to £8 for extra good, aged sorts ranging from £3 upwards. At Renmera, average supply. Beef sold at late rates; steers, £6 to £lO ss, up to 22s per hundred ; cows, £1 to £7, up to 19s per hundred. DALGETV'S BUMER REPORT Dalgety aud Company, Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegram from their London otlice, dated'the 15th inst:--Butter:—The tone of the market is rather better. Buyers are operating more freely. The Copenhagen official quotation is unchanged. We expect no immediate change in prices. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for the week ending the 10th inst. amounted to 72,0()0ewt. as compared with 100,000 for the corresponding period of last year. New Zealand frozen mutton and lamb -Market firm, but little doing. Beet.—We quote ox fores, 180/320 lbs., f.a.q, £2 7s Bd, £3 3s Bd. Tallow: Since our last telegram, prices arc unchanged.
| VICKERS & STEVENS'-REPORT Messrs Viekers and Stevens report that there was a large entry of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday. There was a good demand for first-class weaners, but poor and badcolored ones were almost unsaleable. Inferior and bad colored weaners made from Is (id to Ss, gooil weaners lis (id to 17s, 15 lo 18 months LI 10s to LI 13s (id, old stores LI 5s to LI 10s, good fresh stores LI 7s (id lo L2 lis, fat cows L 3 5s to L 3 19s, springers L 3 to L 3 15s, f.m. ewes IDs 3d to lis Id.
BEWLEY AND GRIFFITHS' REPORT. Messrs Bcwluy and Griffiths report: Owing to the wet morning, there was barely sin average supply of poultry, but prices showed a distinct improvement on recent sales. JENKINS, MATTHEWS & PIGOTT'S REPORT. At Urenui on Monday last we had a fair yarding of cattle, ami most lines were sold at the hammer or afterwards. We quote —Yearling heifers 30s. IS month steers 375, store cows 10s, 2 year steers 51s, fat cows LI to Lt ss, 'bulls His to LI 15s. hack L 3 15s. We sold the lease of the Urenui Domain for three years at LlO per annum. At Waitara on the following Tuesday the yarding was small, but we had the satisfaction of selling every line except two pens of calves.
