SWIMMING SPORTS.
(iiven line weather, Wednesday's Swimming Sports hj, the lake iu the Recreation Grounds arc going to be very successful. Large entries have already been received for all events. There are eleven for the spring-board dive, and a similar number will compete in the high dive. Twelve have signilied their intention of starting in Ihc diverting cigar race. Handicaps appear iu 10-niorriiw morning's issue. A novelty, and one that is bound to "draw," will be the "Monte Christo Act," by Mr W. Lints. This gentleman is quite an expert gymnast and iiatator, and iu Wednesday's performance lie promises to eclipse (he memory of many prestidigitatcurs. lied securely in a sack, he will be dropped off the " Poet's Bridge " into the lake, and he guarantees to extricate himself without assistance. The feat is one needing a good deal of pluck and skill, and should be well worth seeing.
