A STRONG INDICTMENT.
ARBITRATION COURT JUSTICE QUESTIONED. A DISAPPOINTED UNION. FEB PBESS ASSOCIATION. Dijxedis. February 15. The following resolution was unanimously endorsed at the general meeting of the Seamen's Union held this evening : " That this meeting expresses its astonishment at tho terms of the Arbitration Court, in the case of the Seamen's Union v. the Union Steamship Company and other shipowners, and is emphatically of opinion that the decision of the court hus not the slightest relation to that justice which we have been led to expect from a judicial tribunal. In view of the obvious impossibility of securing an award based on the weight of evidence adduced, we eousider it useless to spend further time and money on Arbitration Court proceedings."
A FARTHER PROTEST. I'KII PUIiSS ASSOCIATION'. Dcxkdix, February 15. The Otago Trades and Labor Council passed the following resolution to-night:."That this Council notes with regret that the Arbitration Court so often seemingly ignores the evidence placed before it, and frames its awards totally at variance wilh that evidence, the latest example being in the Seamen's Union dispute ; and further, that the Council specially deplores the refusal of the court to grunt preference in the face of the fact that over ill) per cent, of the seamen are members of the Union; and that this Council extends its sympathy to the Seamen's Union for (he unsatisfactory award given, in the face of the strong evidence placed before the court in the Union's favor."
