SHIPWRRCK RELIEF SOCIETY.
REGRETTABLE WANT OF INTEREST. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Dlnkdi.n, February It. At the annual meeting of the Ship, week Relief Society, Mr J. A. Millar, M.H.R., who presided, said the Society was making progress, although it was disheartening to seo those outside Dunedin taking practically no interest in the affairs of the Society. If a serious catastrophe occurred the funds of the Society wight go at one swoop. There was nothing from Wellington, and lie believed only £1 from Auckland. His Excellency the Governor, was elected patron, and the Premier and the Hon. W. Hall-Joues, vicepatrons. It was suggested that if paid secretaries were appointed in other centres, they might infuse somo interest into tho affairs of the Society, but effect was not given to it. An effort will be made to get the patron and vice-patrons to address meetings in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch ou the objects of the Society. Mr Chamberlain, on his visit to the West Coast, will endeavor to excite interest there.
