SPORTING.
The Egmont R C. Summer Meeting will be held to-day and to-morrow on the Club's course, near Hawcra. Though the acceptances arc not as large as usual, there is ample material engaged to provide a good day's sport. The first race, the Flying Handicap, is limed to start at noon; nine figure on the card in this event. Starshoot and Boomerang hail from one stable, so one of the pair will probably be withdrawn. Mr E. J. Watts' elect, Delamere, and Lady Auuic should run prominently. Hike STARB7IOOT 1 Dki.amkiik 2 Lady Annie 3 The Mcrcruere Hack contains the largest field of the day, no less than 17 having paid up. The Clipper, Immolation, Clementine, and Lualla may furnish the place-getters. I will place Luali.a 1 Immolation 2 Tin; Clipper 3 Ten are engaged in the Whareroa Hurdles. Defo.e, on Nelson form, should run a good race. The Robinson Crusoe gelding is evidently an improved horse. Weary Bill, Waiwera, and Khania appear most likely of the others engaged. The placiug may be Defoe ... 1 Weary Bill 2 AVaiweba 3 The issue of the Hack Hurdles may be fought out between Geologist, Mawhiti, Cassiopea and Inglcwood. T like Geologist ~, ... 1 Ixgi.ewooi) „, ... 2 Mawhiti 3 The Egmont Cup appears very open and should be a good race. Grenade and Bourrasquc arc nicely handicapped. The latter won the Foxlon Cup, H miles, last month with ease in 2.11 1-5. Jewellery and Glenullin are two light-weights that must be respected. The St. Leger mave acted as runner-up to Master Delavel in the Yakapuna Cup, run in record time for 'akapuna course, and if in form will beat more than beat her. liopa, the Wellington Cup winner, must also be hard to beat. Faritutn is asked to cuvry 1 libs more than when he won last year, I think he will be held safe by the light weight division. To make a selection I will take Grenade 1 BocHiiAsijri: 2 Jewellery .., ,„ 3 The Hack Produce Stakes may be won by Sylvan Tide or Inaua. Tn the Welter, I like the chances of Kuroki, Regulation, Le Beau, and Starshoot. Regulation won this event last vear nilh 21bs more than her allotment in to-day's race ; if well she would be very hard to beat. The placing may be Recitation 1 Tviiitoti 2 Starshoot 3 Eleven arc engaged in the Waipapa Hack. No\a, Merriwai, Ciimax/aud Star Rose inav furnish Ibe winner, I like Nova 1 Star Rusk 2 Climax 3 A telegraph cilice will be opened at the Gore racecourse to-day. Hours of attendance are from noon to 5 p.m.
