PERSONAL.
The Government has decided upon the appointment of Mr T. H. Humor as Under-Secretary for Mines, in succession to Mr H. "Eliott; of Mr P. S. Hay (at present Superintending Engineer to Public Works) as Engineer-in-Chief, vice Mr W. H. Hales ; and of Mr P. J. O'Hcgan as chairman of the Wellington Conciliation Board. After a long and trying illness, Mrs Lever, wife of Mr C, B. Lover, died at West End, .\e\v Plymouth, on Wednesday. Much sympathy is fell for Mr Lever and the relatives of the deceased lady, who was much esteemed by the community, in their bereavement. Dr. Leatham leaves .New Plymouth to-day on a holiday trip to England, and hopes to return and resume practice at the end of ike present year. Constable Boallio, of Wailara, lias been promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and will be stationed in Wellington. It is understood ilial Master Grant, of luglcwood, a pupil of the Stratford J).H. School, who won the National Scholarship, is to continue his studies at the New Plymouth High School.
