MEDICAL EXAM. RESULTS.

PEIt PBEBS ASSOCIATION. Dunhdin, January 31. At to-day's meeting of the University Senate, the following passed the first professional medical examination : Stanley Brown, Jas. Crawford, Jas. Eade, Percy Poote, Thomas Harrison, Leonard Liue, Eugene Rogers, Francis Scanucll, Robt, Shaw, Arthur Thomson, Sydney Ward, Arthur Friedlauder (in physiology). Second professional: Robert Baron, James Cross, Allan Green, John Hastings, William Patrick, Ivan Wilson, John Withers, Sydney Simpson in pathology, medical jurisprudence Vid public health). Third professional: Archibald Blair William Carswell, Gabriel East, Thomas Gilray, Harold Jeffreys, Eric Marchant, William Neil, Ada Paterson, Thomas Patterson, Hugh Webb and Jas. Wilkin.

The Senate voted JCaO additional to the Assistant Registrar's salary. At the Senate to-day Mr Hogben's motion that a candidate for a Junior Scholarship not taking Latin be allowed to take one scionco as an additional subject, was negatived by 14 votes to 8,

Tlio Medical Committee reported that it was inadvisable to grant diplomas for public health, as at the present time there were mnullielent facilities in the Colony for the study of infectious diseases; also, that a degree doctor of medicine, with honors, was uncalled for at present. The Committee agreed to a syllabus for a dental course to meet the case of dental students who entered on apprenticeship shortly after passing the Act. The Committee recommended ttkat in cases of apprenticeship between the passing of the Act and July, I'JOS, be allowed to present themselves for examination in l'JOtf or 1007, if pass registration be antedated to the com. meucement of apprenticeship. Dr. Scott, of Otago, said thai if the proposals, which have to be approved by the General Medical Association in England, were adopted, the identistry course would be on the same Afooting as that of Melbourne Univer. sity, but on a lower standard than any British course he was aware of.
