PERILOUS EXPERIENCES. FIRING THE GRASS. Revived 18, 1.27 a.m. Sydney, Januarp 17. Bush fires iu the Condobolin district swept over a hundred thousand acres. Many setttcrs were burned out An immense amount of grass, |f 'ncing and crops were destroyed while 1300 sheep were burned at the dale Estate. A settler was surrounded by (ire, and escaped by diving iuto a tank. The lire's frontage covered a distance of 30 miles and is still spreading. A man and his daughter have been arrested for wilfully firing the grass. |
