SLY-GROG PROSECUTION.
Mil MESS ASSOCIATION. Di'xedix, January lfi. Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M., was engaged to-day hearing charges of alleged sly-grog selling arising out of the recent police raid. The charge against Charles Bulnier, fishmonger, was dismissed, the evidence ol: the witness for the Crown, an inftrmer, not being cor. roborated. In the case against Isabella Glenn, of the Hotel Metropole at St. Clair, an adjournment was granted for the purpose of a witness to be called for the defence. ,
Ihoinas Charles Evans, 15 years of age, was charged with selling liquor at St. Clair. It appeared he had been requested to serve by a lady who handed him beer, a corkscrew and glasses. The case was brought to show that no person could serve liquor without a license. Defendant was fined 20s and 7s costs.
