Yuille at the Wellington l'nrk dispersal sale for 1100 guineas, is destined to receive his education in the stable presided over by Jauies Scobie. Local owners'drew some substantial cheques for slakes over the A.R.C'. Summer Meeting, the total amount paid away by the Club amounted to £B7OO, being distributed among 44 different owners. No less than £1852 10s was won by local horses. The winning owners are :—Mr I). O'Brien, £037 10s; Mr J. George, £550; Mr J. O'Driscoll, £500; and Mr A. Champion, £165. L. Hewitt and B. Deeiy headed the list of winning jockeys at the A.R.C. Summer Meeting with five wins each. H. Gray rode four winners, occupying second position on the list, with F. Davis third, having three winning mounts to his credit. Starshoot still displays temper when the colors arc lip. At Ellersiie a carriage whip was requisitioned to ensure the unruly son of Hotehkiss getting a start vUcn the tapes flew up. The Hawkes' Bay J.C. Summer Meeting resulted in a profit of £750. J. Tcnakoe (late Tnpara) formerly owned by Mr Fred Watson, was not long in the Commonwealth before picking up a race. The Hotehkiss — Queen Cole gelding accounts for the hurdle race at Tattersall's Club races on December 30th. Tcnakoe carried lOst lOlbs, and won by ten lengths. Mr G. G. Stead appears to have a mortgage over the A.R.C. Royal Stakes. Out of eleven contests, Goldhurst representatives have succeeded " in winning ten. The Wellington R.C. arc running a double event " tote "at their Summer e Meeting. The combination on the first day is the Cup and Telegraph Handicaps, and on the second day the Racing Club and Metropolitan Handicaps. Mr A. Downie of Randwick, Sydney has acquired a patent for an improvement in horse shoes, both ordinary ami also racing plates.
