* Mr C. N. liiinc, manager of the U ink of yew Zealand, Mnnnia, for a number of years, has been promoted to the position of manager of the Hawera branch. Mr liaine is to be congratulated upon receiving such substantial promotion, Mr 0. Samuel returned to New Plymouth from his annual vocation on Thursday evening. He made the return trip from Auckland and the thermal region, 'via Taumaranm and the Wangauui River, having enjoyed the journey immensely. At Eltham on Thursday evening, Mr James MeLeod was presented by the citizens with a beautiful cabinet spirit stand of British oak, silver-mounted and very neatly engraved, containing three large cut glass decanter.' and drawers for glasses, cards and eriblmge boards. Prince Arthur of Cjuiuught h:is started on a special mission to .lupin. The Bishop of Wellington, I)r YVallis, will visit Eltham this morning, and consecrate All Saints' Church, which was erected about eighteen months ago, and is now free from debt.
