SOME IMPORTANT POINTS. PKIi MUSS ASSOCIATION'. ArcKi.AMii. January 11. A number of important points were considered by the Marine Enquiry Court in connection with the ClaymoreKapanui collision at to-day's sittings, and evidence was taken at length regarding the ([uestion of whether or not the Auckland harbor was a narrow channel within the meaning of the collision regulations. Amongst the witnesses called on i this point were the Harbormaster, the < Marine Superintendent, and the Cap-j tain of the s.s. Aparima, now in port. The question of the manning of small steamers with regard to the «ifei.y of the travelling public 111 ease ol accident was also discussed, and the speed of motor launches in the liarhor was commented upon. Evidence was practically concluded, the contractor for the raising of the Kapanui only remaining to he called, and counsel will he heard by the Court to-morrow.
