' The police were communicated with, and the body was removed to Kapongn. The body was identified as that of a young fellow named Edward Keats, and was in an advanced stage of decomposition. The deceased was missed front the farm of Mr A. ttargen, Riverlen, about six weeks ago, and it seems that the body has been lying exposed for about that time. The deceased, it. is stated, had not enjoyed the best of health previous to the timo he was missed. An inquest was held on Wednesday afternoon, before Mr F. May, J.P., acting-Coroner, and the following jurors:—Messrs. S. L. Lewis, F. Buckingham, T. Sargeson, M. Tobin, D. Twomey, and T. Sweeney. Evidence was given by a number of witnesses, and showed that the young fellow, who was only IS years of age, was in delicate health and was subject to fits of melancholy. The following verdict was returned : —"That deceased came to his death in a natural way, the body being found on 9th January, 11)00, on a farm at Mangawhere-road, and that there was nothing to suggest in any way that there had been foul play." Much difficulty was experienced in getting the body to Kaponga, owing to the rough nature of the country to be traversed.
