AUCKLAND STREET RIOT.
MOKE CASES BEFOEE THE COURT. TOR rilifss ASSOCIATION. Avckl txi>, January 9. Harry Dyer, a young man, appeared at the Police Court charged with having damaged by night one window in the Zeahmdia Restaurant, valued at £l4. ' There was again a largo attendance of the public to watch the pro* feedings, Counsel for the defendant contended that as the window was already broken when accused was alleged to have thrown stone, he could not have damaged to the extent of £l4. Before commit! ing, damage to the extent of at least £5 must be shown. I bo Bench thought the evidence adduced was contradictor}', but that it had been proved without doubt by Constable Burke's evidence that the accused had thrown a missile. They were of opinion that accused should be committed. Bail was allowed, as in former ease, with two sureties of £SO. There are still several eases to be heard in connection with tho riot.
