EGG-LAYING CONTESTS.
PBB TBSSS ASSOCIATION. Blenheim, January 6. The total at the thirty-sixth week of tho New Zealand egg-laying competition showed the number as 1748, with a grand aggregate of 66,518, and a weekly average per pen of 17-48. The highest layings for the week were: —Legcr's White Leghorns 30, Hawke's Silver Wyandottcs 30, Ashw*th's Silver Wyandottcs 28, Miss Dick Shaw's Whito Leghorn 28, Betha Edwards White Leghorn 28, Tho order of merit in tho grand aggregate now is :—Leger 1038, Brooks 911, Marlborough A, & P. Association 933, Miss Dick Shaw 926, Jonathan Hodson 907, all these pens being White Lsghorus. The total for December was 8873, the first prize for the month being won by the Marlborough A. & P. Association with 129, Hockeys Brown Leghorns second with 126, King and Bishcll's White Leghorns third with 125. A large number of the hens are moulting, and about 100 are broody.
