BURGLARIES IN AUCKLAND.

The residence of Wm, l'rater, stockbroker, of Armey road, lteinuera, was burglariously entered while the family was away during the week before Christmas. They came back lo Kml that the place had been overhauled by thieves, who had jipproprisitod about .£'so worth j of property, including a pair of binoculars, ami new serviettes. An entrance hail been effected by forcing the lock 'with a jemmy. •lames Preston, grocer, at the corner of Ml, Hoskill road and Prospect Terrace, after a few day's absence, discovered that n burglar bad been at work. Preston had left the key of his safe in some clothes on changing lor the holidays, and the-burglar, having effected entrance, evidently discovered this unfortunate oversight, for the safe was opened and rilled of its contents, ■Oil in money being missing. A peculiar feature about the robbery is that the thief took only gold and silver, leaving -Co in notes, which were voile-,t up close to the coins, and could liardlv have been overlooked.
