PER PBBSB ASSOC lATION. Invebcabgill, January 3. la his presidential address at the Educational Institute to-day, President Gill (Wellington) dealt most fully with a necessity of a system for abolishing the pupil teacher. The Conference passed a resolution to that effect. The following motions were adopted, othors being negatived or withdrawn : Wanganui—That the Department be asked to frame a regulation that head teachers hold promotion examinations at the end of the calendar year. Otago—That this Institute again urge necessity for a Council of Education for the Colony. Wanganui—-That the inspectorate be centralised. Otago— That the pupil teacher system should be abolished.
