In reply, Mr Seddou spoke on the benefits of tho'pension system, audsaid the country could well afford the increased cost. Providence had smiled on New Zealand since the poor had been provided for, and their example had been followed in Australia. A similar measure would probably be eventually adopted in tile Old Country. This afternoon the Premier visited the A eteran's Home anil the Costley Home for aged poor. At the latter institution he was warmly thanked for the increase in the pension, aud one old lady embraced and kissed liini—an incident which was heartily enjoyed by all present.
