In the meantime Messrs E. Connelly and Gordon arrived, aud went to the assistance of the children. They were helped materially by another big wave lifting the children ten yards nearer the shore. Medical measures were promptly taken, and the children I have now quite recovered.
At Port Awaniti another adventure took place. Some school children were bathing in the surf and one was caught-by the under-current and was swept out-, but clung to u small rock. The other children quickly gave the alarm, and Mr Drift", who was lying ill in bed, went to the rescue, nud with cTifficulty saved the )ioy,
