- . London, Dceembor 17. Lord Dnlmcuy, son of Lord Eosebcry, in a speech at Midlothian, declared he would loyally support tho Government, whatever their measures on local government, land values, or Home Rule were.
Mr Henry Labouchere will not eontest Northampton, owing to his advanced age. The liight Hon. K. B. Haldaue(Sec retary for War) will not rality without enquiry the Eight Hon. H. 0. Arnold-Porster's (late Secretary) proposed changes in regard to volunteers. There is a strong movement in tho city to request Lord Cuiv.on (late Viceroy of India) to stand for tho city ou national rather than party grounds. Sir Edward Clarke, K.C., is already announced as a Unionist candidate, Sir Alfred Thomas, member for Glamorganshire, speaking at Ferndalo, declared he was in a position to state that the Liberal Government included Welsh disestablishment and disendowmeut as an essential part of the programme. Capetown, December. 17. The press of Cape Colony is very unappreciative of Mr Winston Churchill (Under-Secretary for the Colonies) and declares that he shows scant knowledge of tho opinions, aspirations, and diltteulties of tho colonies.
