Mr Smith, proprietor'of the Imperial Hotel, New Plymoutli, is away on a visit, to Auckland. He will return tomorrow, Mr F. Simpson, Chief Surveyor and Commissioner of Crown Lands in Taranaki, returned lo Mew Plymouth by Tuesday morning's train, after a visit lo the baclc country. Mr W. Hymes, member for Patoa, has been presented with a gold watch and an illuminated address for his efforts in connection witli passing the Dentists' Act. The presentation was subscribed by dentists in various parts of the colony. llsv. Harry Bull. Connexional Secretary of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, arrived from Auckland on Tuesday morning, and spent the day in [ New Plymouth, on business relating to his departments of church matters, He conferred with Rev. J. N. Buttle, of Now Plymouth, President of the Conference, and Roy. C. E. Porter, Organising Seoretary of the Young Men's Forward Movement, on , commercial matters.
