THE TAPANUI MURDER TRIAL.
VLEDICT OF NOT GUIL'Y. DUNEDIN, Nov. 21. The trial of Stott and Bromley, on ft charge of having murdered Ham Sing Tong, at Tapanui, was concluded, no evidence being called for the defence. After over an hour's retirement the jury returned to ask whether a verdict of " not proven" was equivalent to that of "not guilty." His Honor sasd it was exactly the same.
The jury then retired and returned with a verdict of not guilty,
