A SCHEME PROPOUNDED. 6 (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct, 14. At a meeting of the North Canterbury Executive of the Farmers' Union to-day, Mr Kerr, representing Messrs P, and 1). Duncan, implement manufacturers, attended and submitmilted a scheme to check the operations of the Harvester Trust. The scheme, shortly, is that the loca.l makers of implements should deposit copies of their price lists, which should be taTsen as the standard prices, and if the local makers should reduce the retail price, the Government to impose an import duty equal to four times the reduction, and should the makers increase the price the import duty to i kc correspondingly decreased. [ The following motion was adopted : —"That the proposals of the implement. manufacturers commend themselves to the favourable consideration of the executive, but umler the altered circumstances we cannot take definite action until the. proposals are further considered."
