At tin; annual meeting of the South lliilish Insurance Company the Clmir- ¥ man said the premium income had increased £l3, 1-0, and the revenue from interest and rents ,£5185. Expansion of business had also brought an increase in losses of £20,460. The assets had now reached £518,095. The Company had no serious fires during the year, but had pretty severe losses in both fire and marine. They were ablo to show an underwriting gain of 12 per cent., though the rasult of the New Zealand business was less satinfactory than usual. ~- Thc shareholders agreed to a resolution extending the business to cover nil risks but life.
