An old man named (Jeorgc Fletcher, aged 7«, was found dead this nioni jig by the Onohunga station* master. as he was walking tlown the lVnrose-Onehunga line, near a cattle stop The 'deceased's back was broken aivd lacerat-cd. 1 The only explanation of the occurrence is that he foil off the train last l night, or was hit by the cowcatcher, ami thrown on Hie side of the line. At the inquest the verdict was "Accidental tleatlv," Tliv* engine ' driver said he observed nothing.
