Hov the Finds Wen Used. (Received Sept. 29, 1.8 a.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 28. The evidence at the official inquiry showed that Hyde and others used the Equitable Assurance Company's funds to pay calls on railway stocks, the Equitable not receiving the interest on thfe money thus advanced, although they received the profits. Oth- ' er more startling allegations are suggested.

The consumption of tubacco m New Zealand amounts to an astonishing figure. Approximately 7.000,050 cigs.9t, 90,000.000 cigarettes, and nearly 2,000,000tb0t tobacco are consumed annually, and it is maintained a large proportion of .this can be produced in the colony.
