HORSES REQUIRED FOR SOUTH AFRICA

The Governor has received the following cable from tho High Cooanistriornr 'or South Africa : —About 500 horses will bo required for the South African Constabulary between now ami February. Can you forward by telegraph * tcmler to supply on conditions as follows To be lamlvL at Durban ; Inspection and selection of horses-to y<fturadc by a representative of the South African Constabulary not later Iban the fifteenth d»y after tHsnnbarkation ; the South African Constabulary to have full powers of rejecting alt or any of than on thd following grounds—l'nBoundness, unsu itability for work, .want of condition, 'faulty conformation. Size 11.2 to 13.1 bands; five lo seven years of ogo; must bo jjEldrngs or marcs (the latter #ill bo £r»en the preference); conformation lor rMtng only, not for -draught ; Stamp required h> that for rural ctm--StabuUry horses r should Ui stout, thick-set. but with quality. ami should be about three-quarters thoroughbred. There * a good market for horses in South Africa at present.
