The deceased gentleman's | mime was made famous throughout the world as the founder of homes |in (ircul Britain .for outcast and neglected children, and orphans. , | Miss Bra-ii, instructress on the. staff of the New .Zealand Agricultural .Department, has rccciml instructions to take up her headquarters io the Taranaki district for some time. Miss Breen's mission is to give advice as to cleanliness' in surroundings, etc. Mr A. Ulundell, officer in charge of the Stock Department lor the West Coast district, is at present on a visit here. Nurse W. N'ixon, daughter of Rev. J. Nixon, has received an appointment on th? Invereargill nursing staff. The Mayor (Mr K. Cock) was unable to fulfil his engagements ' on Thursday evening, through indisposition. lie is suffering from -a slight attack of influenza.
