(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 20. To-day the third round of the Amateur Championship was gone through. The result of the day's ploy left Messrs Hums, A. Duncan, K- Duncan, and Fisher in the championship. A good deal of attention was given to the meeting of A. Duncan (Wellington-) and J. Harold (Wonganui). The game was won by the former wilh 5 up und 4 to play. Iloth of these players started well. Duncan won the second hole, hut lost the third, which made them all even. Duncan won tin- fourth, ami with a lucky shot took the fifth in three holing from the outside of th« griH-n. From this out. Duncan gradually forged ahead, and won. Another close und interesting game 1 was witnessed in the contest between K. Duncan ami K. Tareha (ex champion). At the 14th hole they were level, and at the 17th Duncan was one up, the 18th hole being halvitd. Duncan won hjy the narrow majority cf one up. T. Could (Wellington) captured the Uogie event, with 3up on bogie. In the circumstances Mr Oould's perfonmincc was a highly cieditai/Je ono He, however, stood out by himself, for the scores in this event were docidedjy below the average.
