Education Boards Conference.

A Long List of Subjects. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 6. The North Canterbury Education Hoard, at a meeting to-day, approved ot a list oi seventeen subjects for submission by the Hoard's representatives for discussion at the Conference of the Education Boards of thj. Colony, to commence at Wellington on Sept. 12. The. subjects Include: The general relation of Boards to the Department; the restrictions placed on Boards in regard to expenditure ol the building grant ; the training of teachers ; the provision for the stafl and the question of its efficiency ; the necessity ol more assured linancu in connection with technical education, as regards both buildings ami administration ; the small country schools difficulty of obtaining suitablii teachers ; classification of teachers including! the subjects of appointments, promotion and transfer of teachers ; whether interchange of inspectors by arrangement between Boards is desirable ; whether the system of payment on average attendance should be abolished in favour of fixed salaries ; a clearer definition rcgardjing committees' power of appointing teachers ; and the question of school discipline^
