Mr <iilljert, postmaster at .Waitara, is taking his annual month's leave iust now. Mr Johnston, of the New Plymouth o/Tice. is relieving him.

Dr. Mason, Chief Health Oflicer, is leaving for Australia by the Waikaro and has booked a passage from Sydney to Marseilles by the Jlaritimes steamer Dumljen.

Mr D. Ilanks, of the Magistrate's Court staff, Wellington, is at present relieving Mr A. Trimble, Clerk of the Court at Ilawera, whft' is indisposed.

Mr (,'eorge Fowlds, M.H.U., intends going Homo oarly next year.in order to take parr. injfamily celebrations in honour of his father's 100 th birthday in May.

Mr W. I;. Gray, late engineer at the Waitara Ffec'iing Works, was the recipient of several prescnt-atipns aj. Waitara, as tokens of esteem on t-iie eve of his departure, Mr J. Cameron, on behalf of some 35 gentlemen who had assembled on Friday evening to bid him farewell, handed Mr Gray a pair of silver candlesticks as a memento of li-is Waitara sojourn. On Saturday evening the Freezing Works employees assembled at the Masonic Hotel-, and expressed their goodwill towards their old chief by presenting him with a handsome gold sovereign case, suitably inscribed.
