Thine was a crowded congregation at SI. .Mary's Church evensong service, v.'fitu Archdeacon Cole, on behalf of the Bishop, licensed lire Rev. Ropcre Tahuriorangi, the Rev. • Hone rt'ikaijo, ami Tutanuku, chief at Puiangi, as Maori priest, deacon, and lay reader, respectively. The Archdeacon briefly addressed the candidates on their solemn duties an<l obligations as teachers of the Gospel. The sermon was preached in the Maori language by the Rev. Hone l'apahia, who tool; as his subject the parable of the sowers, Mr T. Percy Smith interpreting' the discourse to the congregation. Another Maori minister, the Rev. Vfiki Tepaa, was also present.

The lcvereml gentlemen named have l;cea conducting a special mission since Aug. l amongst the Maoris in' the Taranaki districts. To-day they will proceed, for the third time at the special request of the natives on a vis.t to ,Puni'ho, Rahotu, Opunake ami other centres.

I lie picachcrs, who have been very much encouraged in their work by the manner in which their countrymen have received them and listened to then ministrations, will conclude their ptesent mission tour about *cpl. ID.
