OPPOSITION BY BRITISH LABOUR PARTY. Proptsed Deputation to the Colonies. (Received Sept. 1, 8.56 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 1. The Labour Representation Committee are discussing a proposal, for consideration at another meeting in Octoller, lor sending to Australasia, Canada, and probably to South Africa, a deputation representing all the ■ irganised labour of the United Kingdom, with proposals to bring the Empire's labour forces into closer LOucb to discuss the fiscal question, *"itb a view to an understanding as to laijour's attitude towards the Go- ! vvrnment proposals at the next election, and to obtain their support. It is from Colonial labour experiments that it is hoped an Imperial labour policy will be evolved. The serious question is : What source will provide the cost of the deputation if decided upon ?

Mr Ramsay McDonald, secretary of [he Representation Committee, when interviewed, said : "We do oot propose to interfere with the international arrangements of the colonics )n fiscal matters, but we are anxious they should not throw their weight in favour ol the movement which the Home Labour party oppose."
