The Football Fatality.
No One to Blame. (Per Press Association.) DUNKDIN, Aug. 30. The inquest on William John liailey, aged 24 years, who died from (lie effects of anynjury in tlm KouthlandOlago match, was held to-day. Dr. Marks, bouse surgeon at the hyspital, said an operation was performed, winch demonstrated than there was a dislocation of the sixth vertebra of the neck. The spinal cord was flattened, but so lar as could be judged, deceased otherwise uninjured, The dislocation was reduced as far as possible. The depositions of deceased were read, to the effect that he (deceased) took the ball in a line-out, and was trying to put it on the ground, laut he fell forward, turned a somersault, and came down on his head. It was then he was hurt. No one pushed him, and he could not say anyone threw him. There was no blame at all, and no rough play. He thought more than one fell, and that someone fell on the top of him, but he couU not say who it was. J, Williams, the referee, and others, stated that there had been no rough play. The jury returned a verdict that death was due to injuries accidentally received, no blame being atlachable to anyone. The friends of the deceased have fixed the funeral for Saturday. This will interfere materially with the New Zealand match 4
