Charge of Murder.

(Per Press Association. 1 ) INVERCARGILL, Aug. SO. The trial of Daniel Swan for the I murder of his wife will continue tomorrow, there being still twelve witnesses for the Crown to examine. Counsel for accused is cross-exam-ining, chiefly to elicit information as to his mental condition, especially, with regard to religion. One of the sons said ho had heard accused argue that murder was not so great a sin as to commit suicide. Mr Justice Cooper remarked that unless counsel was setting up insanity as .a defence, ami intended calling expert evidence to that effect, there was no use in asking lay witnesses about their impressions of accused's mental condition.
