A Football Fatality.
(Pe* Preea Association DUNEDIN, Aug. 29. W. Bailey, who was injured in the Southland v. Otago football match on Saturday, died at 8.30 this evening. His temperature had been rising all day. t
The Auckland "Association" bailers will arrive at New Plymouth on Friday morning. They play a Waitara-Uronul team on Satmday at Wsltara, and meet the Taranaki "reps." at the Recreation Grounds on the following Thursday, Sept. 7. The Taranaki Association "reps," leave for Auckland tho same evening.
It is stated that Mr Hamilton A\ Wilson, of Hawcra, is unable to travel with the Taranaki representative football team, and for this reason his name docs not appear in the teams for the tost match on Thursday, It must be qui to patent to even a casual foollball observer that the "Blaz-* er" of old has gone, and the gentleman who played in the front rank of the Taranaki pack was not up to representative form. His voluntary retirement has probably saved Mr Young an unpleasant task. We would advise the selector to keep his eye on Masters and Balfo on Thursday. Theif' two forwards have a bit of dash, a quality lacking in the Taranaki pack which failed against Auckland. Masters is solid, last, and a scorer, while Balfe Alls the bill as a hooker. Nicholas and Frcwin will have to improve if; they; want to keep their places in the "rep." team.-Kaponga Mail. "■ 8
