A Labour Candidate for Toraaail.
An exceptionally, well attended meeting of the New Plymouth branch (A this League was held on Tuesday evening, the President (Mr Christopher) being in the chair. [ Replies were read from Messrs K. M. biuith, 11. Okey, R, Cock, J. J. Klwln, W. B. Davies, C. T. Mills and C. E. BJlringcr, candidates (or the Taianaki seat, to thuiquestions constituting thu League's platform. As all these replies were considered unsatisfactory, it was decided, if sufficient support were forthcoming, to run Mr Christopher as the Labour candidate for Taranaki.
A strong committee was formed td canvass for support, and a subticripjtion list which was started met with Ujeral support.
The proceedings were characterised by great enthusiasm, and the members feel sanguine as to tho result of their action.
The meeting was adjourned tin 7 30 on Saturday evening at McKellar's buildings, when a report will be submitted on the progress made with die canvass. T — I | \\ ■ -
