The Scheme Postponed.

| The meeting i n connection with the jllall-by-tlu'-.Sea scheme, held n t the Counepl Chombcrs on Tuesday evening, was but scantily attended. Eight guarantors- put in an appearance. Those present considered there was no encouragemel to pro ,c(ol, and the apathy displayed in tho matter was interpreted to mean that the time was inopportune for the scheme. The following resolution, move.,-1 by Mr JlcKinnon Buin and seconded by Mr IV. 1). Webster, was eventually carried—"That Mi Frank Roberts' scheme for a ISall-by-lhe-Kca be postponed for the present until the money market -h more favourable, and that a oil of !!s per Jtl guaranteed for expenses be made on the guarantors to cover the,actuul out-of-pocket expenses iiw curred in the matter, .such call to 'bo in full satisfaction- mid discharge of all claims on the guarantors." On -the motion of Mr Weston, a hearty vote of thanks! was accorded Mr Frank Roberts for the enthusiasm and hard work which he had put into initiating the scheme.
