Councillor Clifl has resigned his position as Councillor for the East Ward.
Mr \V, 11, McC'arry, of the firm of \V. 11. and A. McOarry, Kit-ham, was visiting New-Plymouth yesterday. Mr F. T. BoHringcr will be the recipcit of a presentation from the Tnrunoki Rugby Union at the Stai social on August 23. Captain Juckson Harry, who Ims been on a visit to Australia, returned! to Wellington by tho -Mokoia from Sydri-y last week. 'Hie position of editor of the firoy River Argus, vacated by the retirement of Mr Flortlncoj McCarthy, is to be assumed in the course of a few weeks by Mr J. S. Kelly, of the Chjristch'urd;i Tress literary staff. Mr Kelly is jat present on a. visit to Wellington.
Mr J, Hcslop attended the Taranaki Land Board meeting on Tuesday. The members expressed their pleasure at seeing him back in bis scat after a long and tedious illness. Mr Hcslop returned thanks for the sympathy extended to him during bis illness, and for tho welcome accorded him.
