Also Considerable Cash. A Warrant for Arrest Issue! (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 10. A warrant has been issued (or tho arrest of X'. Dawson, accountant to tho Auckland Racing Club, on a charge of h/aving appropriated a considerable sum of money, tho proportj of his employers. Tho warrant has been pIaCB.I in the hands of the police for execution. Dawson has not been, at the office sinco Wednesday. Ho is said to have remavkod on that day that it was his intention to pay a visit to Waiuku. It is belieted, however, thnt ho left for Fiji by the Taviuni on the same afternoon, and the authorities at Suva have bora com municated with by cable. It is authoritatively announced thfct considerably more than £IOOO is mlsrfng from the club's 1/an.kHng account, and that probably th'o amount will be found to bo close on twice that sum. The auditors are at work' examining the accounts with a view to arriv ing nt Jhe figures. At thje annual meeting of members of the Auckland Racing Club, held on Mondiay afternoon Ipst, the statement of receipts and expenditure in oonnection with trie general account showed a balance m tho bank of close on £9OO. This, however, on subsewas found to Have been iscorrect, an<S a deficiency was disclosed. This w(as discovered ao cidentally on Wednesday. One of the officials jocularly remarked to the manager jof tho banking institution with which tho club does business that tho club would expect interest on tiiie 1 sum standing to its credit. Tho manager in reply informed tho manaear that there was no balance in hand. This aroused tlhe latlter's suspicions as to 'tho true position of, affairs. On his return to the Club's office t'hks official is said to havo spoken to the accountant touching tho conversation with tho bank manager, and to have suggested that tho accounts should be g,one into.
