NORTH I SOUTH HATCH. The second trial match between ths North and South divisions of T]aranaki was played' at Stratford on Thursday afternoon. The teams were fairly representative of tho division*, but the match was not an especially good que, considering that Ihe selection of the Turanaki rep. team depended to some extent upon the showing of the men engaged. There wus no score until well into the second half, when North socured a try througih tho agency of Smith,' which was not converted. After this some changes were made i:» the personnel of the teams in order to test the probable rep. forwards together. As re-constituted the North team easily sccred another try, but this can hardly be credited against thei Southern Division. Taken on the whole the forward play was, gbod, but tho back play was hardly up to th' 3 form desired.
