His riderless horse, with the saddle bloodstained, led to the discovery of Blake's body, with th» head and trunk shattered, close to the road. Attached to the saddle was a long piece of fuse. Deceased was a son of .Sir Henry Blake, Governor of Ceylon. His life was insured wiih various companies for £6OOO.
