PARLIAMENT.
TUESDAY, AUG, 8, 1905. HOUSE OF, REPRESENTATIVES. The House met at 2,30 p.m. On the motion to go int-o Committee of Supply for the consideration of the Estimates, considerable discussion took place on the Defence Department. The motion was ultimately agreed to on the voices, and a lengthy debate took place on the first item. In rcp.ly to Mr Massoy, Mr Scddon said lie would endeavour to bring down the Public Works Statement, and Estimates not later than three weeks from date. EVENING SITTING.
The House resumed at 7.30 p.m. The lirst item on the Estimate.'} was discussed at great length, when considerable attention was paid to the criticism of the "memo" system, hut many other questions were also touched upon.
