Mr Fisher's Obstinacy.
Reiterates his Charges, (Per Press Association.) .WELLINGTON, Aug. 2. When the House met this afternoon Mi' Fisher was in his place, and made a long statement regarding ltis charges against the Government. He said lie believed the Sneddon voucher produced by the Premier was an absolutely genuine document. The mistake was his own, and he took all blame for it. Ho advert, however, that he honestly and conscientiously believed there is another voucher which was payable to Captain Seddon, and he asked for an impartial inquiry into this charge, and expressed his Ability to substantiate it.
Mr Seddon declared there was no such voucher in existence, and "belief" could not be taken as a ground f ( > r an inquiry. He regretted that Mr Fisher had not taken another course, and his explanation had only, added insult to injury. He did not intend to propose any motion on the matter. He did not want to make a martyr of Mr Fisher, and he would leave him to his conscience, to his constituents and to the public.
