Mr J. C. Maddison, F.R.1.H.A., who was (architect for the Waitaia Freezing Works, has been appointed aro uted for the main building of blie New Zealand Exhibition, to be held in Christchurch next year. Mr S. Carlow, of Christchurch, will be the ai'oiitcct of the machinery annexe and the art gallery. Mr i). McCullum, manager of the Southland Meat Co.'s bacon factory, has town selected out of i! 8 applicants for the position of manager of the Kltfutm Uacon Company. Mr McCalluin has had a very , wide experience ijf bacon curing ;.n(l small goods nianuiacUire in various parts of the Austral-iau Stales and also in America. lie will assume control in uhout a fortnight. Mr. A. Gray, who has for some years past most creditably filled the position of second assistanl master at the Central School, has bivn selected iiy the o]>unal-:e Coinmittoe as headnsaster of that school. We heartily/congratulate Mr Gray on his wellmerited promotion. The death of Mr James J'ask, a. pioneer of the Feilding district, where he rcsidiM for sonio thirty; years, is reported to have taken place on the 2iird ult. Mrs Jam® F. Lepine, of New Plymouth, is a daughter of the deceased.
