BRUTAL HORRIBLE OFFENCE. (Received July 25, #.50 p.m.) MELBOURNE, July 28. Edwards, who was found guilty of the manslaughter ot Sktaner, was sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment. Justice Hood skid the facts of the case would have amply justified the jury in finding a verdict of Wilful and deliberate murder, bul the ingenuity and eloqtteocy of the defence led to the verdict of manslaughter. It was a brutal horrible offence and nothing in the crime itself or the circumstances Utenfuds would Warrant dealing leniently, Witt the prisoner.
